Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 5, 2026
raisehand ("raisehand," "we," "us") is a Chrome extension that helps you ask questions about videos you're watching and turn them into study notes and quizzes. This policy explains what we collect, what we deliberately don't, and who processes your data.
The short version: the audio, video, and live transcript of whatever you watch are never written to our servers, and neither are the questions and answers you exchange with the AI during a session. We do store your account, your usage counts, basic session info, and any notes or quizzes you choose to generate and save.
What we collect and store
- Account information: your email address (used to sign in via a one-time code) and an internal user ID.
- Your plan: which tier your account is on.
- Usage metadata: a record of each AI call, for billing and abuse prevention. This covers timestamps, which feature was used, AI model token counts, estimated cost, response latency, error codes, and your IP address and browser user-agent.
- Session information: for each watching session, the page URL, the page title, the detected video title (so your generated notes and quizzes can reference their source), and the session start and end times and duration.
- Generated study artifacts: the notes and quizzes you choose to generate, including the quiz questions and answers, saved to your account so you can return to them. You can delete them at any time.
What we deliberately do NOT store
We process the following only in the moment, to answer your question or build your study material, and then discard it. None of it is written to our database:
- The audio from whatever you are watching. It is sent directly from your browser to our transcription provider and is never routed through or stored by us.
- The video frames or screenshots of what is on your screen.
- The live transcript of what was said.
- The questions and answers exchanged with the AI during a watching session, the live back-and-forth while you watch.
To be clear about the difference: the live session questions and answers are never saved. The notes and quizzes you deliberately generate are saved to your account (see above), including a quiz's own questions and answers, but the audio, transcript, and live session Q&A that produced them are not.
Third parties that process your data
To provide the service, limited data is processed by:
- Supabase handles authentication and storage of your account, session info, study artifacts, and usage metadata.
- Deepgram provides speech-to-text transcription. Audio is sent directly from your browser to Deepgram, and we never receive or store it.
- Anthropic provides the AI that answers your questions and generates notes and quizzes. When you ask a question or generate notes, the relevant transcript snippet, recent frames, and your question are sent to Anthropic to produce a response. This content is not stored by us.
- Resend sends your sign-in (one-time code) emails.
- Vercel hosts our backend service.
Each provider processes data only as needed to perform its function. We do not sell your data to anyone.
IP addresses and security
We log your IP address and browser user-agent alongside usage records to enforce rate limits, prevent abuse, and secure the service. This information is retained with your usage metadata.
Data retention and deletion
Your account and usage metadata are retained while your account is active. You can delete your saved data at any time using the "Delete all saved data" control in the extension's Settings, which removes your learning sessions, notes, and quizzes. (Usage metadata used for billing and abuse prevention may be retained.) You may also request account deletion by emailing us at hello@raisehand.online.
Changes to this policy
This is beta software and the product is evolving. We may update this policy; the "last updated" date above reflects the most recent change.
